The reason for this stamp is a few days ago I was having a conversation with a class mate. I don't remember how the conversation came about, or what she was trying to prove, but... her only proof was "It's in the Bible".
I can't see how "It's in the Bible" can be valid proof, and I told her this. She went on saying that "Jesus said this, God said this" etc. etc. She also said that "Albert Einstein lived his life trying to disprove the things written in the Bible, and all he got was the exact things that WERE written." I find it hard to believe that that was Einstein's motives. I admit, though, that I haven't done my research. She might be correct, and if so, Einstein was a god damned fool and not worth his fame, in my opinion.
I told her that I don't see the Bible as valid proof because it was written by a man. She corrected me, saying that the Bible was written by as many as 500 men. I still don't see it was valid proof, however, because men are men, and no matter who the man is, he can't say what is write or wrong, fact or fiction because man always has someone who believes the opposite, them in turn being wrong. Man kind is constantly contradicting each other, basically. I also believe that although the majority of man might think something is right, it doesn't MAKE it right. That one man may disagree, and that one man will follow his own morals.
And by valid proof, I don't mean by history. Alot of the Bible is a history lesson. It's a great book to read for that purpose. However, proof of the right and wrongs of morals and rules of the way of man? I think not. I shall do what I believe is right, and I will do what is wrong, because I don't care what others see as obscene. That does NOT, however, mean I will go about robbing a rich lady. Things like that I see as wrong because that rich lady may have worked hard for what she has. I would hate if I had things I worked hard for taken away from me. HOWEVER, if it was a dog-eat-dog world, I WOULD do it. Why? Because in a dog-eat-dog world there is no room for sympathy, kindness to those you don't know, and courtesy. I also believe in looking out for yourself before you worry about others.
You may see me as a horrible, mean person, but I see myself as me. All I ask is what would you believe if you had no Bible or any other Holy Book to tell you what is right and wrong? Where would you get hope if the Bible didn't tell you if you worship God you'd go to heaven? What would you believe?
I am open to anything that really makes sense to me. I am one of those see-to-believe people, I suppose.
NOTICE:
This is not an attack of Christianity or any other religion. Nor is this an attack on an individual or group of people. This is only a stamp for me, and anyone else that shares at least a portion of my opinions.
You have a right to express your opinions to me, but please read my comments carefully. I do not appreciate any comments such as "You're going to hell" etc. Please respect my views. I respect yours.
You may also answer my questions, but don't expect to change my opinions. I don't expect to change any of yours
I have never heard that about Einstein but I have not researched him (although I must say, I would maybe like to for I think I could like he himself for some other reasons) I do not really get into a lot of the Bible. When it comes down to it, I believe in God, yes. Not ashamed of it. But, I do not believe he will cast you into hell as so many do. There are so many write overs in the Bible and mistranslations and how words change meaning that it is hard to understand. I go based on faith, and the miracles I have seen on the fact that praying has helped me.
I cannot say that because it is in the common Bible it is accurate always. I follow my God in being what he wants me and everyone to be, ourselves! I believe in accepting everyone and being kind as well as doing what you can. I do not often succeed, but this is what I wish to do and what I know a truly loving God wants.

Albert Einstein was agnostic. He did take an interest in the concept of religion, but it had nothing to do with his research and scientific development, and it certainly had nothing to do with spending his time trying to disprove anything in the Bible. He did not believe in a personal god, but he did believe in an order to the universe.
Some quotes:
[Conflicts between science and religion] "have all sprung from fatal errors." "Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind ... a legitimate conflict between science and religion cannot exist." "Neither the rule of human nor Divine Will exists as an independent cause of natural events. To be sure, the doctrine of a personal God interfering with natural events could never be refuted ... by science, for [it] can always take refuge in those domains in which scientific knowledge has not yet been able to set foot."
He was also a humanist and a great man.
Please slap your moron classmate for me. I'm not a Christian, but if I were, I would be ashamed to have someone like that on my side. She belittles her cause by making things up.
Also, if you are interested in a non-religious look at the evolution and psychology of morality, I recommend checking out The Science of Good and Evil by Michael Shermer sometime. For a scientific analysis book, it's very well-written and entertaining, and might shed some light for you on how morality can exist with or without religion.
You know, I agree. Good to know you think like that my buddy. c: And even history books can be wrong, since "History is in the eye of the beholder." C:

I wish i knew more of the subject yall were discussing, mayhaps i could have shown a little light on the conversation
If you dive a little deeper into biblical history you'll find that the Jews were very accurate historians constantly searching for answers and asking questions
If you'd like a book on the general subject i'd suggest the Case For Christ, and if you can read at a post graduate level C.S. Lewis' Mere Christianity (this book is no easy read)

Err... anyway; the Bible has many flaws and the only reason everyone keeps pointing at it as if it were the goddamn Bibl-- oh wait... Well it's like legalized booze and cigarettes. It has a deep connection with the human race and it wont be going anywhere seeing as 'man kind' or homo sapiens as the correct term should be. We have too much time on our hands, so after being taught how to survive in every day life, things NEED to be complicated to somehow make us feel and BE better than all other animals. Whatever that means. The fact that we see things should be another way around and be able to control ourselves unlike other living organisms makes us think we can handle ourselves then all of the sudden we need morals, eh. Just eh. We need religion, social status, belongings, money, land, wealth, families, THE FUCKING WORLD at our mercy. All of them man made (minus Earth which has a one way relationship with us), and then at some point, these things which were never here in the first place suddenly become fact.
And they said I wasn't learning anything.

very true, that is about history. That's why it is up to the reader to analyze the document thoroughly. Point of view is everything. You would believe a history professor if he was talking about History, correct? But would you consider a math teacher as much of a valid source or history? Probably not. Anything a Christian says about Islam I wouldn't consider valid either, because they aren't a direct source.

I do want to slap my class mate, but I think it's best to leave it be And that sounds like a great book, I'll look into it. I might recommend it to my dad also. He loved "A Short History of Nearly Everything" by Bill Bryson I love those quotes, also. Thanks for the fave.

I believe most of the Old Testimate is a direct translation of the Tanakh (or Jewish Bible, which ever you may call it). At least that is what I've been told in World History and have researched myself. I can't check directly, however, because I do not know Hebrew :E
