Description

There seems to be a pattern. Last year I also did a watercolor painting in autumn of some creature with an umbrella. Both have gotten DDs. AWESOME!

This is Kawue :>
oh, I tried fixing his eye like you said, but it didn't seem to fix the problem. Looked up some anatomy, touched up on the face, and he looks better now. I don't think it was that he didn't have white in his eyes, but more that it was the position of his eyes-- some areas looked flat and it was throwing everything off. I also needed to go ahead and draw he mouth, because it's absence too was throwing me off. Anyway, I hope you approve of it now more than you did before. :)

Watercolor, Ink, and Acrylics. My typical mix

This piece might be one of your best ever. I think it is a stunningly detailed parade of colours and detail all combining into one rather peaceful and magical image.

First of all, I love the feathers most, the way they float through the air is very beautiful, not to mention how well drawn and detailed they are.
Another thing I am extremely fond of is the shading in the fur of the fox, particularly on the edges of the cheeks.

I love the way you blended all your colours as well, they are so stunning and rainbow’y without ever being hard on the eyes and always staying somehow real to nature.

The critiques I can find with this piece are definitely nit-picks. I think the entire thing is stunning (obviously) however, there are a few areas that catch my eye. While the blurred background serves as a realistic visual I wish that the largest tree which forms a half frame on the left of the piece was a little more detailed and more sharp, especially towards the top where it fades. I also wish some of the umbrella’s details were a little sharper so we could really tell just how it is folded up. The area where the hand wraps over the top of the handle is a little hard to see too so maybe a tiny bit of lineart or drawing a shine on the handle could help it be more noticeable instead of blending into the hand?

I notice that the shadow from the feather on the mossy rock feels a bit too hard too, especially for such a light and thin object and that it is the only really hard shadow I can catch which makes it stand out a lot. I also notice there is a shadow on the fox’s scarf just bellow the largest fold. I think the shadow goes down a little too far. I think if the scarf fell in layers over itself like that the shadow would only be very, very minimal just around the edges. I tested some fabric to see and it seemed to be the case. However, his head would likely cast a shadow over the entire scarf and chest a bit if the light is coming directly from above as it appears to be so you could just gently darken up the entire space and only add minimal shadowing where the fabric folds.

I hope all that made sense, I am so bad with words! Keep up the amazing work. I can never look forward enough to seeing what you will create next.<img src="e.deviantart.net/emoticons/r/r…" width="15" height="18" alt=":blackrose:" title="Black Rose" />
